Bob has released his passion for storytelling in a wide range of media. At Red Fort he has served as producer on a number of projects and lent his voice as narrator on projects. As a television producer and writer, Bob has worked with the national news divisions of CTV and CBC. Online, he helped create the Gemini award-winning CTVNEWS.com. The site was also recognized with an award from New York's prestigious Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and the Online News Association.
In the U.S. his work has appeared on ABC, NBC and CNN. A native of Vancouver, Bob is a graduate of the Broadcast Communications program at the BC Institute of Technology. There he won a national RTNDA award for top student documentary. Also a graduate of UBC, Bob studied film and theatre on the way to a degree. Bob also took on roles large and small for CTV, CBC and NBC and made appearances in local theatre.
A classically trained tenor, he developed an early love of choral music and earned the rare opportunity to perform as a soloist in two European tours and on CD.
Maninder Chana is an award-winning writer, actor and director. He was the ultimate driving force behind Mixed Nuts, a comedy troupe that garnered accolades for its cutting edge humor, playing sold out shows and earning Maninder several award nominations for his performance and stage direction. His comedic appeals and creative abilities naturally led Maninder to filmmaking. He has written and directed several movies, including Sammy's Dilemma, Mohandas & Bette: A Love Story and The Drive-by Ventriloquist, which was recently a Best Film finalist at the prestigious Balticon Festival. In fact, all of his films have been showcased extensively at international festivals.
His pioneering work in film and television earned him a Reel World Trailblazer nomination in 2005. Also during that year, Maninder wrote and directed a six-hour epic sci-fi series for radio, Sectarian Wave. The story is currently being turned into a comic book through Bright Anvil Studios, a company which operates for Marvel Comics, Dark Horse and designed toys for Shrek 2 and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.
In 2006, Maninder co-wrote, executive produced, edited and shot Bright Anvil's first film, Bastards of Kirk. It debuted at Toronto Trek this summer and will screen this fall at Fan Expo—the largest Entertainment event in Canada. Also this year, Maninder published a short story collection, Gunga Din Lite & Other Delights (of Lust and Comedy). And even more recently, he signed agreements to create and direct two feature films based on narratives from the collection.
Also an award-winning journalist, he has worked in prominent newsrooms across North America and publishing stories in numerous magazines and newspapers.
