It's the 23rd century. 60 minutes, now in its 315th year is doing a special: The Search for James T. Kirk. The Federation's most highly decorated starship Captain has disappeared. And it appears the reason maybe that he's broken the Prime Directive: never to interfere with alien life. Unfortunately for Kirk, space children are coming out of every corner of the nebula claiming that he fathered them. Former girlfriends tell of how Kirk loved them and ditched them leaving behind a starling enterprise of broken hearts and fatherless children.

As the news magazine investigates, it uncovers more children and perhaps a plot by the Federation to cover Kirk's escapades all up. Did he break the Prime Directive? Are these his children? Are these the Bastards of Kirk?

Producer's Notes

Bastards of Kirk is a co-production we did with Bright Anvil Studios. Logan Lubera who heads the studio and is a wicked artist and toy designer (Shrek 2, Spiderman 3, Star Trek: Revenge of the Sith) had actually asked us to help them produce a film almost two years ago. For whatever reason, the timing was never right. And then at the beginning of 2006, Logan said he had an idea for a fan film based on Star Trek and in the vein of Lucas In Love, Grayson and other fan pictures.

Well that was the beginning. And it turned out to be a struggle and a half getting the project off and running. Bob had originally come in with 30 pages of a first draft. Logan was thinking five minutes, but the film turned out to be 30 minutes. In between auditions, shooting, set building, costume design there were a lot of headaches - mainly money - mainly time. In the end, I think we all wished we had actually only made a five minute film.

But in the end we survived and duked it out and came up with something that is being talked about in forums and internet chat rooms. The buzz is strong and the film has been requested by several comic book conventions. We'll keep you informed of any screenings that come along.
